School Picnic - 9/16 from 5:30-7:30pm
Bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and gather on the east playground. Families may pack a picnic dinner for themselves or just come to play and socialize while kids enjoy use the playground. Come for all or just stop by for a bit. It will be a fun way to catch up with friends and meet new Horn families.
Parent Teacher Organization - 9/20 from 7:00-8:00pm
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) would like to welcome all families to our first gathering of the year. Join us in the school library or on Zoom. The link will be emailed prior to the meeting.
PTO meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month in the Horn Library from 7:00-8:00pm. Future dates include Oct. 18, Nov. 15, Dec. 20, Jan. 17, Feb. 21, Mar. 21, Apr. 18, and May 16.
Each month we get a school update from Principal Cannon, discuss upcoming school activities and events, and have time for parent questions. Email hornpto.iowacity@gmail.com with any questions or if you want to get involved. PTO is in need of a co-vice president and a co-secretary.
School Store Wish List
The Horn School Store has an Amazon Wish List. Students visit the school store to purchase prizes with their PBIS tickets. Tickets are earned by being kind, safe, and responsible at school. If you would like to contribute, visit the wish list, place an item in your cart, and have your item shipped directly to Horn School by entering the school address at check out! 2022-2023 PTO Volunteer Needs
The Parent Teacher Organization has a full calendar planned for this school year but needs a team to help. After many months of no in-person events due to COVID, we need to identify new volunteers willing to help with PTO events. There are lots of opportunities, big and small, and plenty of help for any newcomers. No previous involvement is necessary. Want more information before signing up? Our fundraisers allow us to support Horn school through free family events and academic enrichment opportunities during school. Free school events make Horn a welcoming place and provide a place for families to connect.
Football Parking
It’s time for our Hawkeye Football parking fundraiser! Football parking is the easiest and most successful Horn fundraiser and raises around $5000 each fall for Horn School and covers the cost of field trips! Each Saturday home game, cars park in the school parking lot and playground blacktop off Benton for $15.
Sign-up here for a 2 hour shift, meet the other Horn families, and collect parking money. Bring your kids and they can play on the playground or set up a lemonade stand!
