Giving Opportunities
In past years, Horn has done a direct ask fundraising campaign. Our PTO budget and fundraisers are in a place that we do not need to do that this year.
If you're looking to make an end-of-year gift that directly benefits our students please consider the following!
Northwest Junior High (where our Horn students will go for 7th and 8th grade) is currently raising money for new track uniforms. They are $2200 away from their goal of $9000 which will provide updated uniforms with the Trojan logo for the 225 athletes who participate in the track program. Each uniform costs $35.

The Iowa City School District Foundation does such an amazing job of supporting our schools and inspiring our students by providing resources to enrich curriculum, programs, and experiences. At the elementary level, the foundation has sponsored KinderTales, Symphony Goes to School, Opera Iowa, School of the Wild, Artist in Residence, and Visiting Authors. These opportunities are provided at ALL schools and for ALL students. Even during a pandemic, the Foundation has come up with creative opportunities for our students! Want to get involved?
The Parent Teacher Organization is looking for help with the following:
Building Artwork - Do you have an eye for design, a heart for showcasing student artwork, or ideas to increase Horn school's warm and welcoming environment? Horn has money already set aside to help decorate the walls inside the school and add ways to display student artwork. A small group of parents and teachers are needed to begin making plans.
Staff Appreciation - In the past, we've done meals around conference time and provided snacks on occasion in the teacher's lounge. A coordinator or two are needed to organize a date and some treats.
Kids Kreations Artwork Fundraiser - Each year, the Horn art teacher helps the students produce a piece of artwork that is used for this fundraiser. Families can order a variety of items with their student's artwork on it. A coordinator is needed to contact Kids Kreations to schedule the fundraiser and work with the art teacher to get artwork collected.
Spring All-School Celebration - New this year, we want to hold a spring or end of year all-school celebration. We've been unable to hold so many of our regular events and want to bring everyone together. We're looking for a group of people who would like to begin making plans for this new event.
