Dance Marathon - Thursday, January 23rd from 6:00-7:30
Join us for a fun night of dancing to support the University of Iowa Children's Hospital!  Students and families are welcome and admission is free!  Free-will donations will be collected at the front door. Every penny helps!  Cash, check, debit, and credit cared donations accepted.  You can also give online if you'd like.

Pizza will be served for $3 (1 slice of pizza, a cookie, and water) or $5 (2 slices of pizza, a cookie, and water).  Kona Ice snow cones will also be available to purchase.  Cookie donations are also needed.  New this year!  Students can purchase a star for $1 in the school library next week to help create a "wave" to the children's hospital in the school hallway.

School Carnival
 - Saturday, March 7 from 3:00-6:30
Save the date for the annual School Carnival!  This year's carnival will include a meal as well as baked goods at the Hornet Cafe.  We're also introducing a couple of new activities including a Book Walk to go along with the Candy Bar Walk.  The Cake Decorating Contest will be a part of the Silent Auction and Raffles again this year.  Email or text Laura (Lbroffitt@yahoo.com / 319-541-8862) if you can help in any way or with any questions.

Valentine Collection - January 21-24 We are collecting donations of new, unopened Valentines and individually packaged candy for use by Horn students.  If you want to donate, please drop Valentines and/or candy off in the collection box in the school office between January 21-24.  The collection box will also be at Dance Marathon on January 23rd.  Donated Valentines will be distributed to students by the discretion of the school counselor.

The BackPack Program

HACAP partners with elementary schools in Easter Central Iowa to provide qualifying students nutritious food during the school year.  Horn and Borlaug's PTOs, along with Christ the King Lutheran Church, add fresh fruit and carrots before the bags are distributed to students at the end of the school week.  Sign-up if you would like to contribute.  More information about items needed and when and where to drop-off are available in the sign-up.



Cubing Club - 2nd & 4th Fridays from 3:00-4:00
Students in grades 3-6 are invited to attend Horn's newest club. Join us in the library and bring your own cube(s) if you have them. Questions? Email michellemsmoore@gmail.com





Chess Club - Wednesdays from 3:05-3:45
Chess Club is an opportunity for students in 3rd - 6th grade to practice their chess skills. Beginners are welcome! A behavior agreement must be returned in order to participate. Chess Club meets in Mr. Searls' classroom.
