Track Club - Wednesday, October 2, 9, 16, 23 from 5:30-6:30
Come out and join the running fun!  Track Club will meet the first four Wednesdays in October from 5:30-6:30 on the back playground.  Students and siblings are invited to attend with an adult.  Grown-ups are welcome to run too!  Challenge yourself to run a 1/2 mile, 1 mile or full 5K.  Horn staff will be there to cheer you on.  Water and Gatorade provided.  Track Club is a great way to get ready for the Run for the Schools road race on October 27th.
Parent volunteers are needed to help with set-up, drinks, and clean-up.

International Night - Tuesday, October 22nd from 6:00-7:30 (note the change of date)

We are fortunate at Horn to have so many different countries represented in our school.  International Night is a wonderful event where families from our school come together to showcase their cultures.

Are you interested in sharing your culture with the Horn community?  If so, sign-up to host a table by returning the form sent home last Friday.  Table hosts bring pictures, items, toys, artifacts, and/or food native to their country and talks and shares with Horn families who visit to learn more.  We would love to have as many countries represented as possible, including the United States.  Individual families can host a table or friends can work together.

We'll the end the evening with a fashion show featuring students and families who would like to participate.  Contact Sara Cummins (cummins.sara@iowacityschools.org) with questions.

We're proud of the many ways the Parent Teacher Organization supports Horn School.  Without parent and staff support, we wouldn't be able to provide such great activities and successful fundraisers at Horn.  There are lots of opportunities, big and small, to give back to Horn.  Would you please consider how you can get involved this year?  Contact Laura Broffitt at Lbroffitt@yahoo.com or 319-541-8862 with any questions or sign-up to volunteer!

Football Parking Volunteers Needed
The Horn parking lots are opened on University of Iowa Football game days as a fundraiser for school field trips.  Football parking is one of PTO's most successful and EASIEST fundraisers every year!  Volunteers are needed to collect money and help guide cars into the parking spot.  Last year, a total of 50 hours were volunteered and raised $5405.  That's an average of $108/hour!

Questions, contact Adela Mansilla at gonzalezandmansilla@gmail.com.
