PTO Meeting
Did you miss the Horn PTO meeting on October 2? Check out the minutes on the Horn website.
Our next PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, November 6 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Horn Library.
We will have the following specials teachers come to talk to us: Joan
Depregner (Media Specialist), Josh Hildebrand (Physical Education), and Kate
Hagen (Music).

Football Parking
Saturday 10/20 is a UI Football home game, and it’s Homecoming! PTO will once again be opening up the parking
lots for football parking as a fundraiser.
The fundraiser will then go to help with field trips that our kids will
get to go on this year. Let your
friends/family know in case they are looking for a place to park! Parking is only $10.
Halloween Costume Giveaway
Halloween
is right around the corner! If your Horn student needs a costume, come to the
Halloween costumes giveaway. Costumes are new or gently used. Location
is in the school front entrance. Children desiring a costume must be

Distribution dates are:
Monday, Oct. 22 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 4:00-5:30 p.m.

International Night
Join us at Horn on Wednesday, October 24 from 6-7:30 pm. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and food from over 28 countries represented by students and families at Horn. The event starts at the library. Travel to each hallway off the library which represents a continent, and stamp your passport as you visit each one! Check out the countries that our Horn families are showcasing!
Enjoy the food and artifacts from 6-7
pm, and then join us for a fashion show at 7pm in the gym. It is an amazing night and a great way to get
to know the Horn families. We hope you
will be able to come!

Volunteer Opportunities
Calling All Bakers
The PTO is always trying to build a bigger Hive to help improve our children's school experience. So, we are putting on a Bake Sale from 3:30-6:30 on November 6, which is also Election Day. We need donations of homemade or store bought cookies, brownies, cakes, breads, and any other sweets. Plus, we need volunteers to help sell the treats. Sign up here to donate or volunteer. We can't do this without your support!
Conference
Meals for the teachers
We are
looking for volunteers to help donate food and items for the Parent Teacher
Conferences that are coming up on November 7, 15 and 16. On conference days, Teachers stay work long hours meeting their students' parents or guardians. That's why it has been a Horn tradition to offer our teachers a meal on conference days! Please take a look at the sign-up and see how you can contribute.
Horn Winter Clothing Drive
If your family
has new or gently used winter items to donate to other families,
please drop them off in the donation box in the Horn office. This can
include winter coats, snow pants, snow boots, mittens/gloves, long sleeved
shirts/sweaters, and pants. Donations will be accepted until November 2.
If your family needs assistance getting winter
items for your Horn students and would like to see if we have winter items
available in their size(s), please contact Megan Recker, the Student &
Family Advocate at 319-688-1179 or recker.megan@iowacityschools.org. We will have a limited number of winter items available and cannot guarantee availability of all items in all sizes.
